Your Chinese zodiac
Twelve animals, a twelve-year cycle. Find your sign and what it says about you.
Born in January or early February? The Chinese year starts at Lunar New Year, so you may be the previous animal. Double-check against that year's date.

How the Chinese zodiac works
The Chinese zodiac runs on a twelve-year cycle, with one animal ruling each year: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. Your animal is set by the year you were born, and it shapes your personality, your luck and who you match with. A five-element cycle (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) adds a second layer, so no two signs of the same animal are quite alike. One thing to know: the Chinese year begins at Lunar New Year in late January or early February, not on the first of January.
